Program Support

SRA helps communities, government and organizations integrate environmental and energy sustainability into their plans, programs and missions. Across the globe, SRA works on projects that promote and institutionalize sustainable practices such as smarter land use, better materials management strategies, and cleaner and more efficient energy and water use. These practices help organizations, communities and individuals live and grow healthier by balancing economic, environmental and equitable concerns. SRA also works closely with agencies on core energy and environmental mission programs, such as implementation of the Clean Air Act and Resource Conservation and Recovery Act. We help our customers across the full program lifecycle, from initial conceptualization through program assessment.

SRA helps federal agencies and other customers understand that any upfront costs for sustainability are worth the long-term benefits, and are often much more cost-effective than proceeding with business-as-usual. We work hand in hand with local community members, organizations, educational institutions and governments to achieve lasting results.

For example, SRA has conducted feasibility studies to site renewable energy facilities on contaminated lands, and also has developed interactive mapping tools for policy makers, community members and businesses to revitalize brownfields sites through renewable energy development. SRA has assisted federal agencies in complying with Executive Order 13514 — Federal Leadership in Environmental, Energy, and Economic Performance. Our environmental and supply chain experts have worked to develop a framework to rank materials, products and services consumed in the U.S. from a life-cycle perspective, accounting for the environmental impacts, resource use (material, energy, water) and waste. Our analysts also help to prepare guidance and related materials, such as EPA's Reducing Urban Heat Islands: Compendium of Strategies.
